4 Month Dr. Update

Father's Day turned out to be very cute. The boys gave their Daddy some gifts and Chris opened them with the boys sitting next to him. It was cracking me up how they were coordinated enough to hold the envelopes without hitting themselves in the face.
Miles learned a new trick this week. He can now push up his snack tray on his swing with his feet. I guess he doesn't like to be restricted. This week the boys have also started really pushing up on their legs when you hold them. Colston would rather be on his feet then sitting now which is strengthening their legs good.

The Dr. appointment yesterday went okay. The checkup was fine but we had shots again which is always heartbreaking. Their little faces turn bright red and they scream at the top of their lungs before breaking out in the cries. The Dr said that we could start trying cereal at any point which was opposite of what the nurse said when I called in. He said if you ask 5 doctors they will give you five different answers on the subject. The Dr. said the boys are growing very fast. Colston is growing up and thinning out while Miles brain is growing at a faster pace than his legs. Here are the stats for them at four months.

Colston:
Weight = 15 pounds 4 oz (60th percentile)
Height = 26 inches (90th percentile)
Head = 17 inches (75th percentile)

Miles
Weight = 14 pound 14 oz (50th percentile)
Height = 24 3/4 inches (50th percentile)
Head = 17 1/8 inches (75th percentile)

So we have two boys that are at or above the average child their age in weight. Miles is right on target for height and Colston is tall for his age and BOTH children have large heads for their age.

I have included a picture of them on the night after shots. This helps you gain a visual of what it's like at our household the day of shots. Two upset children who want to be held. Colston also blessed us with not feeling good through the night so both Chris and I were both nice and tired on Friday. :)

Happy Father's Day 2010

I couldn't post yesterday as Paw Paw hadn't received his picture yet. Hopefully he has it today!

Thanks to my Dad for being such a great role model and fun Grandpa for my kids. We look forward to all of the bad things you will teach them.

To Chris - Happy First Father's Day. We love you and appreciate everything you do for us!!!

4 Months and Growing

I thought I would be so good at updating the blog and yet almost a month has passed and I haven't updated. Over the last month the boys have continued to change and grow. Their little personalities are in full force.

Colston is our laid back child. He can spend time just laying under his gym staring at his hands or a toy. He also can sleep anywhere. The first time he fell asleep in the bumbo outside we thought it was a one time thing. Aparently he takes after his Grandma Joy who can also fall asleep sitting up as we have caught him a few times doing this. He is very interested in learning new things and is quick to try out his legs or roll over. He even tries to roll in his swing so we have to buckle him in now. He also is doing very good with tummy time and lifting his head. Colston has also started to favor blankets. Sometimes pulling them over his head so he can "hide" and go to sleep. He has also started sucking his thumb which is very cute. The cutest is when he sucks his thumb and then tries to hide it either behind a blanket or by putting his other hand in front of it.

Miles is our high energy child. He is go go go or dead asleep. There are only two speeds and only two setting. Smiling or screaming. Miles has no interest in trying to stand and hates tummy time so much that when you place him on his stomach he typically just lays down his head to take a nap. Miles is also a total homebody. We took the boys to the condo one weekend so we could do repairs and clean. Miles had a melt down and wouldn't stop screaming unless you held him. I ended up strapping him to me so that I could steam clean carpets. Then Chris took him to the office and he did the same thing. When Chris got home with him as soon as he walked through the front door Miles' whole demeanor changed and he smiled from ear to ear.
Both of the boys have become very vocal. Very cute unless it's at 4:30 am on the monitor from their crib. Colston talks and talks. At times he even tries to talk from behind his bottle when we feed him. Coslton is not interested in eating. Most of the time we struggle to get him to finish his bottle. Miles on the other hand could be called "Mikey" as "He'll eat anything." This has resulted in Colston leaning down. I think he'll be our tall thinner kid and Miles ----well Miles is a little chubby. His tummy actually hangs over his diaper a little bit. The best thing about Miles is his endless smile. If you get within 2 feet of Miles he smiles. (as long as it's not close to nap time). This feature makes it very easy to take pictures of him.

Over the memorial day weekend we had the boys first "professional' pictures taken. They turned out okay but I wasn't very impressed. They didn't have anything to make the boys smile (toys, noisemakers, etc). All she had was a piece of cardboard that she would fan to catch their attention. Miles thought this was hilarious. Colston was annoyed by it. Therefore we didn't end up with a ton of really good pictures. I decided to take some of my own when we got home which only turned out a little better.

The kids are doing great overall. They go this week for their 4 month checkup so we are excited to see how much they weigh. They are both doing very well with sleeping. Colston slept the last three nights almost all the way through. He went to bed around 10 and got up around 7. Not sure if this will continue but I am crossing my fingers. Miles is only getting up once. Last night he went to bed at 10 and got up at 4:30 to eat and then slept until 8. The boys continue to love their swings. So much that we thought one was broken. I went and bought another one and then we determined it was our rechargable batteries and not the swing. We really like the plug in feature so I bought another swing on Craigs list that plugs in. Now we have 2 kids and 4 swings. Good thing we have a big house. Another fun thing is that the boys finally are big enough to wear their cute shoes. Only got one picture of them during naptime on Miles.

We are looking forward to celebrating our first Father's Day tomorrow with Daddy so we will be sure to post some pictures.
