I promised Dad I would update last week and guess what? It didn't happen. My last blog was right before Easter. Easter was fun for the kids. We decided to take them to church. Mom and Miles ended up sitting alone for most of the mass while Daddy and Closton spent some quality time together outside. This was after the boys decided to start fighting with each other in Church. It didn't seem that Colston was too broken up about it as he was all smiles when we came out. They had fun chasing each other around a statue there also. It's so hard to keep them behaving! The day before Easter we did our second hunt with the boys in the town where we live. Colston ended with one egg in his basket because he kept dumping them out. Daddy was videotaping and mommy was with Miles so it wasn't a success for Cole. It was a highlight to see the firetruck arrive with the easter bunny. For weeks afterward everytime they saw a fire truck they would ask if the bunny was on it. I've also included some photos so you can grasp how hard it is to get a good shot of me with the kids. If you look closely in one you will see Miles throwing a fit and my look of exhaustion of trying. This is a true capture.
The week after Easter we had George and Trudy visit. We had a nice time with them once again. The boys also enjoyed getting some new visitors. We loved George's neon green car rental. It looked like a huge easter egg. After the Mills' visit our next visitors were Gale and Denny. This was their first visit to our place since the kids were added to the mix. We keep ourselves busy! Day one was pool time without the kids, saturday we went to the beach, and Sunday we spent on the boat. Lots of sunshine that weekend. We really enjoyed having them and hope they visit again before another three years pass.
The boys are a great source of entertainment and frustration. Not necessarily in that order. I don't remember what I wrote last time so I'll just recap. They are currently 27 months old. They know their ABCs, can count to 15, know shapes which include triangle, star, circle, square, rectangle, as well as pentagon and octogan. I'll admit that when we reviewed pentagon and octogan on the way home from school I told them that we needed to check with Daddy on those. They know every animal, all their colors, and can sing lots of songs off key with the wrong words. Potty training is still a work in progress. They tell us AFTER they go and also fetch their own diapers and wipes when they need to be changed. One day Miles even told me that I needed to come in the house because I needed to change his diaper. I think it they can build sentences to tell me something like that they SHOULD be able to go on the pot but who knows. I would love to get rid of the diaper expense but candidly we aren't really working with them at home so we are probably to blame. The boys are forming sentences with no issues. They also make us laugh with some of the things they come up with.

Here are so funny quotes:
  • "Don't eat it." (Miles states when you change a dirty diaper)
  • "There's a bear in there." (they seem to be everywhere in our house since they have been learning bear hunt song at school)
  • "I need to shave my nose." (announced to the receptionist at daycare. Not sure why)
  • "I am having a party today and bunny rabbits are coming."
  • "Oh my goodness" (I guess I say this alot)
Frequent phrases:
  • "I have a nose" = translation = I need to blow my nose
  • "I did it" or "I do it"
  • "I need help"
  • "I'm too tired" (this is used anytime they don't want to do something)
  • "I go outside" (requested every 30 minutes on the weekend)
  • "Kiss it" (anytime there is an injury)
  • "I need up" (I want you to hold me)
  • "Not nice"
  • "Don't do that"
  • "I don't like that" = Colston says this ALOT pronounced
  • "I don't yike that"
  • "Oh No"
My most frequent phrases:
  • "Enough"
  • "I'm not telling you again"
  • "Stop touching him"
  • "Hands to yourself"
  • "Scoot over"
  • "Get out of there"
  • "We don't stand on toys"
  • "Be nice"
  • "Get off him"
  • "Hug it out"
Everytime you ask them what they want for dinner 90% of the time the response is "chicken and mac and cheese". They talk about themselves in the third person and ask to trade beds every once in awhile because it's funny. Miles loves to show everyone how he can jump. He "practices" this a lot. They have started to ride their tricycles themselves by walking with their feet.
We took them to the splash pad in Sanford last weekend. It was a new experience. It took them awhile to get comfortable but once they did it was endless laughing, screaming, and running. We put up a sprinkler the next day at the house. They loved it.
Aside from the kids Chris and I have been keeping busy. Chris and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary over the last month and also mother's day. Chris surprise me with a past, present, future ring. This was totally unexpected and really caught me by surprise. It's beautiful! My company announced a reorganization which unfortunatly results in my position being eliminated. After nine years with the company this has provided me this big question mark about what to do next. My first thought was to take the severance package and stay home with the kids but after a long weekend and picking them up early a couple days from daycare I have realized I think they might drive me crazy! This is my opportunity to do something on my own but nothing seems to jump out as the one thing I am destin to do. I'm evaluating internal positions with my company and trying to decide if I want to stay or leave. Time will tell! It's such a blessing to know that I do have options and I can truly do whatever I decide. Chris has been great and just wants me to do what makes me happy verses anything else which is nice. As a result of me possibly leaving my company I recently purchased a new computer. It's the first laptop I have EVER bought myself. Typically they are just given to me as part of my jobs. It was amazing to see how many personal photos I had saved on my company laptop so it was really time to invest in one. I haven't had a chance to move most of the items over just yet. I also bought some new editing software so I can spend time doing photography which is so fun for me. Oh - almost forgot to include the photo of the redneck activity my husband engaged in. I mean really - don't we own a wagon?
Hope all of you are well!
