2013? First Soccer Game for the Boys!

Did I miss an entire year?  Ooops!  Okay...well I have a good excuse.  It's called being a stay at home mom.  You see I thought that after I took the boys out of daycare in Dec 2012 I would keep them home for a couple of months while Real Estate was slow and then send them back after the holidays.  My husband said he didn't think I would last a month and maybe I viewed this as a test.  I sit here today having kept the boys at home with me for over 1 year and 3 months.  YEP....every single day for more than 450+ days and still counting.  I'll admit some days have been easier than others.  Some days have ended with the blender out.  (My alcoholic drink of choice)  Some days were like a long walk in the park.  At first it was hard.  I was used to being on a schedule and needing to have checklists accomplished.  I felt like I couldn't get anything done around the house or in my professional life.  Then I realized that it all really didn't matter.  I was getting to do what so many parents want to do.....not have to work.  Spend time with their kids.   See them grow up 24/7.  We have came a LONG way.  The boys now dress themselves, play independently, make jokes, have real friends, and fight...a lot.  We have scheduled playdates and I have a list of things to do with them on a weekly basis which is much better than just staying at home.  So I finally feel like I have time to do things like a blog again. :)  Oh - and the end of my full days with them will last only 5 more months as we are registered for preschool in the fall.  Monday through Friday half days.  But let's not get ahead of ourselves.
Today's news is their first ever Soccer game!  Now....don't get me wrong....I use the word game very loose.  Colston spent more time facing away from the ball than towards it and Miles of Smiles spent 80% of his time talking to number 42 on the other team.  Yep....A girl.... the ball would roll right past him and he wouldn't even see it.  The rest of their time was spent hitting each other and laughing or Miles mimicking the coach with his fake whistling.  It's going to be a loooooong season.

Our 4th Birthday!

Yo Ho Ho!
It's Our 4th Birthday!

I can't believe how quickly the first 4 years went by.  Again this year we had friend over to the house to celebrate the weekend after they turned 4.  Colston and Miles were one of five sets of twins at this years party and I can't believe we didn't get a group picture again this year.  The boys are really into jake and the neverland pirates so we used this as our theme.  Paw Paw brought all of the supplies to create sails on the tables as well as a real treasure box for our dig.  For every game that was played on the treasure map a reward was given out.  So by the end of the party we had some true pirates with bandanas on their head, eye patches, tatoos, and gold doubloons in their pockets.  They had to walk the plank, throw cannons, ring the swords, and dig for buried treasure.  We managed to finish the games in time to enjoy the playset for a bit before a big rain storm came through.  They boys had so much fun with cousins and friends!  Videos of the party at:
