Our time at the hospital

During our hospital stay we had lots of bonding time with the boys. They stayed in our room for the entire time. This provided one on one time with mommy and daddy. Daddy taught Colston how toread the paper and Chris and I learned very quickly just how often we would be up during the night with the boys. It was difficult for the first day and night as I was still on meds and couldn't get out of bed or bend from the C section. Chris was a real trooper changing diapers and taking care of them with me in bed. We received flowers from my family and Chris' family as well. Our first visitor was Paw Paw Bud (my dad) followed by Kelly and Bryan. We also had the
boys picture taken. They turned out pretty well. After the first day our room turned into grand central station. Someone was always stopping by from the hospital staff to: collect birth certificate forms, go through the next meal's menu, take vitals, offer photography services, and take the boys away for hearing testing or shots. It was never ending. At one point there were 6 staffers in our room all wanting answers on something. Some of the funnier things that happened:
Daddy set off the alarms when pushing the babies to their photo session.
Daddy got to change the first "black tar" diaper
Mommy was accused of removing Miles' security tag when it fell off his little foot. The lady actually said that I needed to tell her where it was.
Mommy sometimes thought the boys were in the wrong beds because the bassinets would move around on wheels.
Mommy almost had some choice words with the discharge nurse who forgot to print half of our paperwork so mommy was stuck in a wheelchair holding two screaming babies while she finished and daddy got the car.
Daddy and mommy both struggled with buckling them in the car seats for the first time. The rain didn't help.
Some scary things:
Colston had a few episodes where he threw up and was choaking. This was due to his mucas buildup in his chest.
Colston was determined to have a small heart murmer just like mommy. The peditrician indicated that it was very faint a 1 or 2 on a scale of 6 and nothing that we needed to worry about.
Needless to say we were happy to go home for our first night as a family. We were all very tired!!
