Where is Ranger Rick?
Ranger Rick was here to visit just a few short weeks ago. Boy did we need him yesterday! I was out planting flowers and when walking back from our garage I notice something dark behind our bush line. I looked a little closer to determine it was an animal. A HUGE wild turkey. All I could see was his back side and out of him was an arrow. It seems that someone was hunting and the turkey made an escape. We call animal services. They sent this petite little girl to try to capture this gigantic turkey. She had him netting at one point but when she tried to lift him he got away. She tried again and actually managed to pull the arrow out. The turkey caused quite the commotion in the neighborhood. All of the kids wanted to try to touch him. The adults wanted to take pictures. After the arrow was out animal services said to keep an eye on him and that she didn't think he was really bleeding and should be fine. She also said he would likely be tired and need to rest. He rested all night and was still "resting" this morning. Unfortunatly the turkey didn't make it. We are still waiting for animal services to come and get him to dispose of him. It's so sad! I'll never look at a turkey sandwich the same.
