First Trip to Fowler

We have been so busy since the last post. The first milestone was the boys transitioning from our bedroom to their own cribs upstairs. I don't think they really noticed the move as there were no sleepless nights and no extra crying. We simply put them in their cribs and they have been sleeping there every night since. We slept upstairs for the first 4 nights to make sure they were okay. After that point everyone returned to their own beds. The biggest change has been the exercise that I get running up all of those stairs for the nighttime feedings.

We managed our first flights with the boys without any issues. I was a little surprised by the extend to which they check us at security. We had to remove the boys from the car seats, put those through xray, then collapse the stroller and put that through xray as well. This along with all of the normal bags, shoes, etc. Chris had to walk through xray holding two babies while I collapsed and reassembled the car seats and strollers. We arrive at the gate and got to board with those "needing assistance with small children". Let me tell you this just sounds nice. What they mean is "everyone with small kids who we should help please board now so we can pretend we don't see you, let you struggle with your children and the breakdown of those strollers again and just when you are about half done we are going to open the flood gates and let all of those passengers not needing assistance on. They will all be annoyed with you since you are blocking the aisle to the plane since you thought we were actually going to help you." By the time we traveled back to Orlando I had the system figured out. Eliminate everything not essential from your carry on, have the kids already unbuckled at security, and be very organized with every move you make to get on that plane.

Our trip to Indiana was so fun. Colston and Miles were both baptized in my childhood church. Charlotte and Kevin (my brother and sister) are Colston's godparents. Miles was also baptized just in case the LA church does not call back. His godparents were named but we are withholding that information until they actually are asked to be the godparents :). Both of the boys wore the heirloom Budreau baptismal gown which has been passed down generation to generation. It was first worn by my Grandmother and has since been worn by every child, grandchild and now great grandchildren in the Budreau family. Colston and Miles were number 85 and 86 to wear the gown. Chris allowed the boys to be in a "gown" for this one time in their life. I will amit they would make pretty girls. After the Baptism many relatives made to over to my mom's to meet the boys for the first time. They were held by so many people that by the end of the day Colston smelled like a Macy's perfume counter. I had to wash his head that night as it was giving me a headache.

While in Indiana the boys also made their first trip out to the farm. Paw paw Bud was kind enough to let us take pictures with his tractors to mark the first trip. Colston wasn't really into it and slept through the whole thing. I am sure he'll be more into it when he can actually ride the tractor verses being stuck in the wheel.
Overall the boys were very spoiled when in Indiana as I don't think they were really ever put down. They also didn't take more than 15 minute naps the entire weekend. Getting back to Orlando was a rude awakening for them as no one was here to hold them 24 hours a day. It was also an awakening for me as I came down with a cold. I think this was due to my own lack of sleep while visiting Indiana.

Now we are settled back at home we have started to change the boys feeding. We are now feeding them 5 ounces every 4 hours. Miles caught right on. Colston needed a few feedings before he understood. This gives me an extra hour during the day to get things done and most importantly it will tack on another hour at night for me to sleep between feedings. So far it is working great. It couldn't come at a better time as Chris left yesterday for New Orleans. Yes -- on our anniversary but his trip was much more important. Chris' mother has been in intensive care for almost two weeks. She has been up and down but is now stable but not improving as much as we would like. He went to spend some time with her. He will fly back on Sunday so until then it's just me and the twins. It's been interesting being a single mother......really makes me appreciate Chris and all that he does when he is here. We are all praying for Grandma Doris to make a full recovery!
